How do I order Acuity software? How will I receive the software after I install it?
Go here to order Acuity CMS. If you want to order Acuity Visual Editor or File Manager as standalone systems, contact us. After you pay for the product using PayPal, we'll supply the product in a zip file by email (generally within 48 hours of the order). First we will respond with an email to request further information for your licence file. Once that information is supplied we will email the product files to you.

What if you develop new features? Are future updates free of charge?
Informally, we currently provide upgrades free of charge to customers who are enjoying the software, contributing to our development and support exercises, and politely ask for an upgrade. :) However this policy will not continue indefinitely. We plan to introduce an affordable licence subscription plan sometime in the future. Keep in mind that our time is limited, but we'll always do what we can to help out.

Is Acuity CMS easy to install?
Yes, very easy. In fact to get Acuity CMS running on your website, all you need to do is copy the files we give you to your website.
A more advanced installation may include moving the database to a different location, and possibly changing file permissions in your website. To do these things you may need help from an amateur web developer or your ISP. Full documentation is provided, and we're happy to help as much as possible.

Will you help me install Acuity CMS?

How do I create templates for Acuity CMS?
We provide standard templates for Acuity CMS that suit most functional purposes. Modifying your page templates to include your own website layout requires modifying HTML. In other words, you need basic web development knowledge if you don't want to use the standard templates we provide. Any web developer with amateur (or more) experience will find Acuity CMS templates easy to modify.

Will the menu in my website be automatically constructed?
Yes. Unless you don't want it to be automatically constructed, in which case you can create it manually. :)

How do I change the style of menu in Acuity CMS?
One of the sub-templates we provide with Acuity CMS gives you the ability to change your menu layout. We provide some examples of how to create menus. You can modify this template to create almost any kind of menu that you see on websites (even those funky pull-down menus), but note that you may need intermediate to advanced web developer knowledge to create advanced menu styles. We do provide some cool examples with the product, and we'll provide more over time.
Note that the PHP version of Acuity CMS provides an advanced collection of menu components including cascading menus, tree menus, and other types of menus.

Can I use dynamic pull-out (cascading) menus with Acuity CMS?
Yes. However you may need intermediate to advanced web developer knowledge to set it up. We will provide a standard cascading menu system in the near future.
Note that the PHP version of Acuity CMS provides an advanced collection of menu components including cascading menus, tree menus, and other types of menus.

Can I use Acuity CMS on a Mac?
Sorry, no. Acuity CMS currently relies on functions that are built into Internet Explorer on Windows. If enough people ask, we may provide a Mac-friendly version in the future.

"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available". Why does this message appear when I use the Acuity visual editor?
This is caused by a bug in Microsoft Office. It will happen on some computers and not others, and it depends on the order in which you installed your MS Office products and MS Internet Explorer. We believe it only happens with MS Office 2000, but it may also happen with other versions. It happens because MS Office claims incorrect ownership of some of the core Microsoft programming libraries. Acuity's visual editor is based upon built-in Internet Explorer functionality, it is not a problem with Acuity itself or the visual editor - it's a direct conflict between different MS products.
Remedy: The work-around is also different on different computers. On some computers if you click "Cancel" the first time, you will never see the message again. On other computers you need to run through the requested installation process (using your original MS Office CDs) to make the message go away. On other computers you may see the message a few times then never again. Most computers will at least not display the message more than once in a single browser session.
